Informational interviews are great to get to know a person and their industry. They provide insight, help, and guidance to the job search. Going into an informational interview can be stressful. What do I wear? What do I ask? Where should we meet?

It is essential to have a plan of where to meet. We reached out to our community members, and the consensus was that the location should be quiet, have plenty of seating, and feature decently priced beverages or snacks. The location should make you feel comfortable and confident, two musts during the informational interview. Lower Manhattan

Name: Kaffe 1668
Location: 275 Greenwich Street (cross streets Warren Street and Murray Street)
What makes it a good spot? Located in Tribeca, this spot is comfortable and interesting with reasonably priced coffee.

Name: Think Coffee
Location: 73 8th Ave (between 13th and 14th Streets)
What makes it a good spot? With a couple of locations in Manhattan, Think Coffee knows all about coffee. This location is big and beautiful featuring restored Coney Island boardwalk and lots of art on the walls.

Location: 28 Jane Street (between Greenwich Ave & 8th Ave)
What makes it a good spot? This West Village cafe serves organic coffee and tea and features local bagels in the morning. Perfect for a breakfast meeting!

What makes it a good spot? Pret a Manger offers fresh made sandwiches and salads as well as coffee and tea. The Union Square Pret has lots of seats, making it perfect for meetings.

What makes it a good spot? In the heart of Hell’s Kitchen, this trendy coffee lounge serves a rotating array of international coffees along with the typical coffee house fare. The exposed brick and original pressed tin ceiling give it a welcoming and cozy feeling.

What makes it a good spot? This intimate stop is know for their coffee and offers a convenient location in Park Slope. A favorite of coffee drinkers.

What makes it a good spot? Runner & Stone is a neighborhood bakery and restaurant. They bake all of their bread and pastries in house and feature local ingredients. This is a great place for a fresh baked good or a networking lunch.
