Google. User Experience Research Intern, Summer 2015. Paid.

Google is a multinational corporation specializing in Internet-related services and products, including helping to define products and experiences through learning about their users. Their User Experience team is a critical driving force behind gathering insights and using them to inspire and inform design, and is currently looking for an intern. Responsibilities include designing and conducting user studies, making concrete, data-driven recommendations, and communicating with team members. Ideal applicants should be currently enrolled in programs on human computer interaction, cognitive psychology, information science, or a related field and have experience conducting user research. Possessing a strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods and excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication skills, knowledge of statistics and the principles of experiment design are preferred.

Rainforest Alliance. Special Events Intern. College Credit.

The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use and business practices, and consumer behavior. They are looking for a Special Events Intern to be responsible for assisting the team in preparations for the annual gala in May 2015 and smaller fundraising and cultivation events. Tasks include researching projects related to the gala, helping coordinate details for the auction, assisting with mailings, and coordinating event logistics. Ideal candidates must be currently enrolled students in good academic standing, interested in special events production and fundraising, be self-starters, resourceful and detail-oriented. Experience with Luminate is a plus and requires a minimum commitment of 15 hours a week.

The Experiment, founded in 2009, looks for books that are tests of new ideas. They are looking for interns for Spring 2015 who are interested to learn about book publishing from the perspective of an independent trade publishing company. Interns will get the chance to gain experience and develop skills researching and evaluating possible acquisitions, writing clear, effective copy, proofreading materials, maintaining websites and social media, and more. Applicants must have completed sophomore year in college and eligible for college credit, have outstanding written and communication skills, a firm grasp of the basic rules of English grammar, and an efficient and organized way of doing things. An interest in nonfiction publishing and previous office experience, is preferred. Curiosity and an inclination and ability to ask questions are essential.
