The photo departments of Redbook and Woman’s Day are seeking sharp, responsible, enthusiastic interns for the Spring 2015 semester. Duties include assisting the editors with photo research, maintaining the image server, archiving photo materials, and general administrative tasks. Ideal candidates should have a strong interest in the magazine industry and editorial photography, available 2-3 full days a week, and possess excellent administrative and organizational skills.
JCPenney. Design Trainee. Paid.
JCPenney, one of America’s oldest department store chains, is seeking a Design Trainee to work side by side with Design teams and assigned to one of JCPenney’s private brands. Trainees will engage and interact with Buyers, Designers, Sourcing, Trend, and more. Ideal candidates must have completed a four-year degree, ideally in fashion design or business, possess a strong awareness of trends and merchandising strategies, have the ability to design around concepts and flat sketches, be collaborative and a strong team member, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of CAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, and PDM are required.

NFL Films is devoted to producing commercials, television programs, feature films, and documentaries on the NFL and other unrelated major events and award shows. They are seeking interns for their internship program including the following departments: Audio, Cinematography, Footage and Photo Acquisition, Graphics, Project Management, Shooting Stage/Studio, and others. The program allows time to observe and experience all phases of film operations, opportunities to upgrade skills and demo reels, and seminars on industry-specific topics.

Brooklyn Brew Shop creates stylish, easy-to-use Beer Making kits to simplify the beer-making process without dumbing it down. They are looking for a whip-smart video intern to join their team for the Spring semester. Responsibilities include brainstorming and pitching videos, assisting on product photography and lifestyle shoots, working with the marketing team to budget and source props, editing videos, logging incoming footage and more. Applicants must be 21+, love good beer and be familiar with craft breweries and beer styles, write coherently and wittily, and possess a basic understanding of film/video production. Experience working with editing software (i.e. Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere) is a plus.

Candidates must have several years’ experience as an editor, strong interpersonal skills, a passion for reading, great writing, and a commitment to high quality.

Monotype Studio provides expert consultation and custom type design services to help customers articulate their distinctive brand values through type and is home to many of the world’s top type designers.They are looking for a highly talented type designer to work collaboratively with their worldwide font production team in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment. Responsibilities include typeface development for new library fonts, development and review of font technology, macros, and scripts, continuous development of knowledge about current font editing trends, and more. Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Visual Communication or type design, ideally combined with 2-5 years of experience as a type designer, possess a portfolio representing an awareness of actual typographic trends, excellent font editing skills, and project management experience. Basic knowledge of at least one complex script or writing system is ideal.
School of American Ballet. Bursar.
The School of American Ballet, the official training academy of the NYC Ballet, is the premier ballet academy in the U.S. They are seeking a Bursar to handle student accounting and billing, manage payments, assist with invoices and statements, communicate with parents as needed, and more. Applicants should have experience with database recordkeeping systems, have working knowledge of accounting principles, excellent computer skills, able to multi-task and communicate effectively under pressure, and have excellent project management and organizational skills. 2-3 years in a school or not-for-profit administration setting is preferred.
Judd Foundation. Development and Administrative Assistant.
Judd Foundation aims to maintain and preserve Donald Judd’s permanently installed living and working spaces, libraries, and archives by facilitating public access and developing scholarly and educational programs. They are looking for a Development and Administrative Assistant to work with the Director of Development, receive and record donations, draft letters of inquiry, facilitate outreach to elected officials, and more. Ideal applicants should have at least 1-2 years of experience with development-related responsibilities, experience with fundraising databases, have exceptional interpersonal skills and written communication skills, and the ability to meet and manage multiple deadlines. Interest in art and familiarity with non-profit communities in New York/Texas is strongly preferred.
