Networking 101: From Hello to Hire Me
July 10, 2014 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
[FREE VIRTUAL EVENT]
Are you struggling to find a job you care about? Getting turned down and you don’t know why? Want to meet more interesting people and have career opportunities come to you?
In this class we’ll cover the basics like how to start and close conversations at events, ways to reach out to people you admire, balancing your search with social activities, and the art of hustle.
You’ll leave class feeling confident and prepared to find and meet people who will help you in the next stage of your career. Plus, you’ll have fun!
We’re going to erase they negativity from the phrase “it’s all about who you know.” Life is all about the people you meet and the things you create with them, but that’s not a bad thing!
During class we will:
- Go over the best ice breakers for any situation
- Discuss how to stand out in the sea of students and new grads
- Uncover the best way to get informational interviews (i.e. meet cool people you admire)
- Discover the balancing act between being persistent and being pushy
- Learn why going out is as important as emailing resumes
- Utilize classic and new apps and digital tools to keep track of your network
- and more!
By the end of this class, you’ll have built your first networking hit list…but you won’t stop there. You’ll actually make connections, whether in person or online!
“Emily is a great teacher because she’s genuine and passionate about what she’s talking about.”
“I made a couple new friends/contacts! I was surprised how effective a virtual event could be.”
“Emily has tons of first hand experience when it comes to networking and making connections. This class provided some GREAT advice on all sorts of things from how to meet new people, find cool events or how to write an efficient email. The best part was Emily had many personal anecdotes throughout the class that she would share. I would definitely recommend this class to, it really gets you in the mindset you need to start reaching out and get stuff done!”
