What sets you apart from other young creatives?

On my college campus, I and other girls have helped to establish a Student Women’s Center. We’ve organized events in which students and faculty members can come together to discuss issues that affect women in the world. Our event last month was based on domestic violence. We had over 30 people show up and it was a great discussion.

What is your proudest career moment (so far)?

My proudest career moment is being able to be part of this student women’s club on campus. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve had people come up to me after an event and tell them that they love to hear me speak and they are happy with the work the officers of the club are doing. It makes me feel great that we can have this on campus.

What’s something cool you’ve made or done recently?

I created the Facebook page for the Student Women’s Center. I’ve also started blogging again, “Emerging as Myself.”

What’s something new you’ve recently learned?

I’ve learned that one person alone can not produce change. People have to come together and communicate and work to bring about success. I’ve seen this with my club organization. We could not have the events that we have had without the efforts of each officer.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I hope to be in the media industry. I hope to be writing and possibly working on-air. I would hope to be associated with a women’s organization that will enable me to help others by using my skills. I hope to be inspiring/helping others either through writing articles or working with a non-profit organization.

What did you want to be when you were 5?

When I was five years old, I wanted to be a lawyer.

What do you do to get inspired?

I put on the television and tune into OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network.

What’s been your favorite piece of career advice you’ve received?

It’s not just who you know, but who knows you.

What’s your favorite part about being a FindSpark Member?

The ability to connect with others who have a passion to purse a field in the creative industry. It’s inspiring to know that others are also working hard to purse non-traditional careers.

How did you hear about FindSpark?

I was told about FindSpark through a friend on campus. She told me that there would be a great conference called “Find and Follow Your Passion.” I attended that as a sophomore and I’ve loved FindSpark ever since.
