Zaianna Ortiz
Head of Marketing
Latin Markets
Zaianna began her education as a Liberal Arts major unsure of anything except her passion for playing volleyball. After a full season as a freshman starter at SUNY Farmingdale, Zaianna set her sights on a career in Fashion and transferred to Nassau Community College, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with an Associate’s Degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising, followed by a BA in Marketing from LIM College in New York City. At that point she had tons of hands on experience from unpaid internships at Gucci, Seventh House PR, Showroom Seven, Kellwood and Skopz.com, to name a few. She’d endured all-nighters during NYC Fashion week under the historical tents at Bryant Park, worked knee deep in press closets, secured merchandise placements on live TV and even met with Venture Capitalists to fund a start-up website, allowing her to better assess the direction she wanted her career to take next. Determined to extend her capabilities further than the world of Fashion, Zaianna networked via LinkedIn and landed her senior co-op internship at Latin Markets, a conference company in the Finance industry. Before finishing her senior year, a position as Marketing Coordinator was created for Zaianna. Today, less than 2 years later, she heads the Marketing department at Latin Markets (www.latinmarkets.org), and its sister company US Markets, directing all marketing and media initiatives, along with several business dev. processes, for the firm’s large portfolio of international institutional investor conferences. Zaianna is fanatical about speaking to students and professionals regarding the unlimited control that they have over their career and how to make it from “intern to full-time.”

“Style is something not regularly seen. Unlike fashions, style comes from within. It is a gift not many possess.” -personal quote from a mentor and loved one
I am a young professional building a career in Manhattan. A Southern boy by nature with a Northern mentality, I aspire to make a profound name for myself in the fashion industry with hopes of becoming a ‘tastemaker’. I dream of and am working towards something fulfilling. No matter what the roller coaster of life throws my way, I am relentless in my path of personal success.

Associate PM / Producer
Refinery29, Inc.
Mid-west girl from St. Louis Missouri, I attended journalism school at one one of the best J-school’s in the country — The University of Missouri. I closely studied Strategic Communication (aka Advertising and PR), Economics and Business. I graduated Magna Cum Laude after a brief break up with school. I left college for a semester to intern at Marie Claire and Michael Kors. After 8 months, I returned to school finishing my last semester only to return back to New York to intern at Refinery29, where I currently work as an Associate PM/Producer. In between this transitional period, I had minor stints as a freelance writer, PA and assistant stylist. Now, I’m a full-timer awaiting whatever lands in front of me.
