This event is open to college students, recent grads, and young professionals looking for internships or entry-level jobs. Panelists will share their insights followed by a Q&A. This is a rare opportunity to ask human resources professionals all the questions you’ve always wanted answered.

Recruiter, Bad Boy Worldwide

 Janel Glaspie

Janel Glaspie is a human resource recruiter for Sean Combs Enterprises, including Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment.  In her current role, she is responsible for recruiting for all entities under Combs Enterprises, in addition to managing the company’s internship program. Prior to joining Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment, she served as the recruitment coordinator at AOL, where her human resource career was established and her passion for recruiting was kindled. A native of Washington, DC,   Janel completed her Bachelors of Arts degree in Human Resources at Trinity University, in the nation’s capital. She utilized her internship experiences to explore areas of interest and potential career paths. Upon graduation Janel moved to New York City to combine her training in human resource management and her love for the arts in a career in the entertainment industry. In her spare time she enjoys long distance running, new dining experiences and travel.

Abdul Smith
Senior Interactive Recruiter, SapientNitro

 

Abdul Smith is a Sr. Recruiter with SapientNitro, a Digital Agency in Downtown NYC. He has been recruiting in the Technology & Creative fields in NY 8 years, starting out as a recruiter focusing on server-side trading application developers with Teksystems, an IT staffing firm. From there Abdul moved on to Aquent to focus on Marketing and Creative Services staffing. There, he helped lead interactive recruiting efforts for Aquent’s NY office, supporting Advertising and Digital agencies along with Design Studios and other Fortune 500 Clients. Immediately Prior to joining SapientNitro, Abdul headed up Digital & Social Media recruiting efforts in North America for IPG’s PR agencies, helping build and grow digital teams for GolinHarris, Current Lifestyle Marketing, and Weber Shandwick. In his current role, Abdul works with leadership teams at SapientNitro to seek out top tier talent for full time opportunities, helping the agency to grow as they rapidly expand their client list.In addition to being a passionate technology enthusiast and a lover of all things digital, Abdul is also a creative at heart, having worked as a freelance Photographer for a range of clients including CondeNast, The Gap, Kenneth Cole, Paste,  and most notably, Sapient!

Carolyn Zimatore
Talent Acquisition Manager, HarperCollins Publishers

 

As Talent Acquisition Manager, Carolyn is responsible for recruiting for all departments and levels across the organization, managing university relationships and the internship program, developing talent acquisition best practices from the very first interaction with a candidate throughout the onboarding process, as well as researching and implementing innovative recruitment tools. Prior to HarperCollins Publishers, Carolyn worked in human resources at Penguin Group (USA).  Carolyn graduated from Drew University with a major in English and a minor in Psychology.

Chelsea Scott
Talent Recruiter, Refinery29.com

 

Chelsea has over 6 years of experience in the recruiting field. She came to Refinery29 in 2012 after honing her skills at creative agencies including Huge and Ogilvy. Chelsea believes that building relationships and maintaining a robust pipeline is the key to being successful. Everyday she casts the widest net possible to be proactive in Refinery29’s recruiting search, taking advantage of non-traditional recruiting channels as well as through our own career funnel on the site. Chelsea makes communicating our business, mission, goals and needs a priority when speaking with prospects while giving each candidate the proper Refinery29 treatment! She also spends a great deal of time building Refinery29’s Intern Program, tapping in to top schools to build a successful program.Chelsea enlists her creative background in finding new and interesting ways of recruiting top talent. A former dancer, she moved to New York in 1985 and immediately immersed herself in the creative culture. Her favorite thing about recruiting is finding junior talent, recognizing their strengths and giving them their first shot at a company that is doing something innovative, is supportive and creatively inspiring…like Refinery29.
