We’re thrilled to introduce you to one of our speakers, Sree Sreenivasan. He will be speaking at the Hashtag to Hired: Why Your Online Presence Matters panel.
Sree is the first Chief Digital Officer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He accepted the position in August 2013 to implement innovative new media strategies at one of the oldest cultural institutions in the country.
He joined the Met after spending 20 years at Columbia University as a member of the faculty of the Columbia Journalism School and a year as the university’s first Chief Digital Officer. He will continue to teach a digital media course there each semester.
An advocate and early adopter of social media, Sree gave a TED talk on the importance of the hashtag. He blogs weekly on CNET and appears regularly on national television shows to offer insights into the world of digital journalism and new technologies.
He put theory into practice by launching a hyperlocal news site DNAinfo.com in 2010, one of Business Insider’s hottest 6 news startups of the year.
Sree has been named AdAge’s 25 media people to follow on Twitter, Poynter’s 35 most influential people in social media, and Newsweek’s 40 most influential South Asians in the US, among other lists.
