We’re thrilled to invite you to our inaugural Summer Opportunity Mixer, an offshoot of one of the most popular features of our full-day conference, Find & Follow Your Passion. Meet dozens of representatives from top New York City companies — from major networks to startups to nonprofits.
Date: Wednesday, July 31, 6:30pm-8:30pm
Location: Center for Social Innovation, 601 West 26th Street, Suite 325, NY, 10001
Dress: Business casual
Hashtag: #OppMixer
Refreshments will be served.
Would you describe yourself as young, ambitious, creative, talented, energetic, resourceful, and proactive? Then we want you to attend. This event is for college students, recent grads, and young professionals with up to three years experience. Companies will be looking for skill sets ranging from design and marketing to photography and social media.
The Set Up
The event format will be that of a standard networking event–you won’t be waiting in long lines to meet the reps at each company. We’ve replaced large, awkward tables with high top tables to allow for more natural conversations and to break down barriers between attendees and representatives. This is a chance for your personality to shine.
We Prepare You to Do Your Best
Not only does your ticket get you into the event, but we’ll be hosting a FREE live virtual series of prep events beforehand to make sure you’re ready to make the most of your experience. Workshops include:
Your Resumes in Recruiters Hands and On Their Computers
In addition to the chance to hand your resume to employers in person, all attendees will send us their resumes, which will then be compiled into a digital résumé book that all employers will receive. No need to worry about yours getting lost in the shuffle. That said, we encourage you to bring plenty of copies of your resume, business cards, and a way to show off your portfolio if you have one (iPad, mobile phone, printed copies, etc).
Offline Meets Digital
Your registration goes well beyond the event. In addition to the digital prep workshops, all attendees will be invited to join an exclusive private Facebook group where you’ll get personalized tips, reminders, and can connect with other attendees. You can also learn more about companies and reps in our custom event mobile app. And of course, our event hashtag, #OppMixer, will be a place to connect with companies, reps, and other attendees, as well as a place to get updates leading up to the event.

We don’t have daily free lunches. We don’t have masseuses or a concierge. We don’t throw lavish parties. But, even without these “perks,” we are having more fun and working harder than we’ve ever had and loving it.
