Weekly Web Crawl – 5 Twitter Chats to Help You Find a Job

This week: 5 Twitter Chats to Help You Find a Job

Twitter chats are a great way to informally network with people about a topic you feel knowledgeable about or just about your job search in general. When I was looking for a job I was able to get an interview out of #CMGRchat just by introducing myself in the beginning as someone who was looking for a job in community management and talking intelligently (moderately) about a subject I was passionate about. Here are some great general job-related Twitter chats to get you started:

  • #sasearch Wednesdays 11:30 AM EST
  • #internpro Mondays 9:00 PM EST
  • #JobHuntChat Mondays 10:00 PM EST
  • #CareerChat Tuesdays 1:00 PM EST
  • #GenYChat Wednesdays at 9:00 PM EST

Share your favorite Twitter chats in the comments!

  1. I did the #jobhuntchat one night and was asking for advice in hiring interns. I ended up meeting with someone in real life the next day who I met through the chat to get coffee…and got even more great advice. Twitter chats = winning.

  2. Thank you for including #InternPro in your list, Jamie.

Especially when attended consistently, Twitter chats are indeed a fantastic way to network with industry professionals, and to learn. Emily’s comment is a great example of someone who was successful using these chats… learn and network online… then extend the networked relationship IRL.
